Desert Monks were formed in 2015 in Athens and their music is mainly alternative rock with the discrete presence of elements deriving from each member’s diverse sonic and artistic background.
Their debut album is entitled “Dark Grooves”. Prominently overdriven style, tight grooves, occasionally calm harmonies, repetitive energy-building motifs and heavier bursts combine to create inviting soundscapes waiting to be explored.

The artwork, as well as the succession of the tracks, parallels a personal journey with a road trip, as journeys are directly linked to introspection, a term that also characterizes the band’s entity. The hero’s path to his salvation begins with a night-time self-chase in the desert.
It is described by a series of details of his journey, memories and moments of consciousness and the dawn finds him calm, strong and accepting his position in the world that is no other than the same desert where he started.
Although they have been present for only a few years, Desert Monks have participated in several gigs & festivals, which shows that they have come to leave their mark. Dark Grooves includes all that is required to make their way to the music scene not only of Greece but also internationally.

Οι Desert Monks δημιουργήθηκαν το 2015 στην Αθήνα και η μουσική τους επικεντρώνεται στην alternative rock χωρίς όμως να περιορίζεται, καθώς περιλαμβάνει πλήθος στοιχείων που αντικατοπτρίζουν τις προσωπικές καλλιτεχνικές τους καταβολές.
Πρόκειται για την πρώτη επίσημη δουλειά της μπάντας με τίτλο “Dark Grooves”. Μαρτυρά ένα δεμένο ήχο με περιστασιακά ήρεμες μελωδίες, μεγάλη ατμοσφαιρικότητα, σκοτεινά σημεία και έντονα ξεσπάσματα.

Το artwork, όσο και η διαδοχή των κομματιών του album παραλληλίζουν μια προσωπική διαδρομή με ένα road trip, καθώς τα ταξίδια είναι άμεσα συνδεδεμένα με την ενδοσκόπηση, όρο που χαρακτηρίζει και την οντότητα της μπάντας. Η πορεία του ήρωα προς τη λύτρωσή του, ξεκινά με μια νυχτερινή αυτοκαταδίωξη στην έρημο.
Περιγράφεται από μια σειρά λεπτομερειών του ταξιδιού του, αναμνήσεων και στιγμών συνειδητοποίησης και το ξημέρωμα τον βρίσκει ήρεμο, δυνατό και σε αποδοχή της θέσης του στον κόσμο που δεν είναι άλλος από την ίδια έρημο από όπου ξεκίνησε.
Παρότι μετρούν πολύ λίγα χρόνια παρουσίας, οι Desert Monks έχουν συμμετάσχει σε αρκετά gigs & festivals, πράγμα που μαρτυρά ότι έχουν έρθει για να αφήσουν το στίγμα τους. Το Dark Grooves, περιλαμβάνει όλα όσα απαιτούνται για να αποτελέσει το εισιτήριό τους στη μουσική σκηνή όχι μόνο της Ελλάδας, αλλά και του εξωτερικού.
