Opeth will celebrate their 30th anniversary next year with a tour of eight shows starting on October 13 2021 (Berlin) and finishing in Lisbon on October 25. Opeth are asking fans to vote for the songs they’d like to hear. They’ll be able to vote at the band’s website on Monday, when tickets go on sale.
Frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt comments: ”So, we’re planning to celebrate a belated band-birthday, also known as BBB. How do we celebrate a thing like this, you ask? Well, we go to work. We are planning a very few select shows around the world in 2021 where you basically have the collective choice of picking the songs for the setlist. Since we’ll be celebrating 30 years we would love to play a song from each album we’ve done. All 13 of them. If you can help us and pick your choice of one song per album from the list, and then we’ll simply play the songs with the most votes. It’s been done before, but not by us. I am reluctant and nervous, but also excited to see what songs you will choose. I can’t really believe we’ve been around for 30 years, but there you go. So please help us. And be gentle. The final setlist will have 13 songs. One from each album. Your call…”

Opeth θα γιορτάσουν την 30ή τους επέτειο με μια περιοδεία που θα περιλαμβάνει οκτώ συναυλίες, ξεκινώντας από τις 13 Οκτωβρίου 2021 (Βερολίνο) και κλείνοντας στην Λισαβόνα στις 25 Οκτωβρίου. Οι ζήτησαν από τους fans τους να ψηφίσουν ποια κομμάτια τους θέλουν να ακούσουν. Θα μπορούν να τα ψηφίσουν στην ιστοσελίδα της μπάντας από την προσεχή, όταν θα είναι διαθέσιμα και τα εισιτήρια.
Ο frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt σχολιάζει: ”Λοιπόν, σχεδιάζουμε να γιορτάσουμε καθυστερημένα τα γενέθλια της μπάντας, επίσης γνωστά ως BBB. Πώς γιορτάζουμε κάτι τέτοιο; Λοιπόν, πηγαίνουμε στη δουλειά. Σχεδιάζουμε πολύ λίγες επιλεγμένες συναυλίες σε όλο τον κόσμο το 2021 όπου ουσιαστικά έχετε τη επιλογή να επιλέξετε τα τραγούδια για το setlist. Εφόσον γιορτάζουμε 30 χρόνια, θα θέλαμε να παίξουμε ένα τραγούδι από κάθε άλμπουμ που έχουμε κάνει. Και τα 13 από αυτά. Αν μπορείτε να μας βοηθήσετε, επιλέξτε ένα τραγούδι ανά άλμπουμ από τη λίστα και θα παίξουμε τα τραγούδια με τις περισσότερες ψήφους. Έχει γίνει πριν, αλλά όχι από εμάς. Είμαι επιφυλακτικός και νευρικός, αλλά επίσης ενθουσιασμένος να δω ποια τραγούδια θα επιλέξετε. Δεν μπορώ να πιστέψω ότι υπάρχουμε εδώ και 30 χρόνια, αλλά ορίστε. Λοιπόν, βοηθήστε μας.
